Step Three
Your Base/Foundation
Foundation is the key to a smooth even looking result. There are many foundations to choose from. If you are experiencing dry skin, a liquid or cream will be best at this time. Tinted foundations come in moisturizers which another choice. In choosing the best shade for you, be honest and objective with yourself and decide what your clean, washed skin tone is.
If it is light in shade choose an ivory, if it is neutral or medium choose a beige and if it is dark, choose a bronze tone. Smooth it in... there should be very little difference in your skin tone and the color. If you wear bronze, place the stripe on the cheek area only...wait a few minutes and then check the color. It is helpful to check the color in a direct light. Once you have selected your color...
1. Place a dot of foundation on your forehead, both cheeks and chin with a sponge or your clean fingertips.
2. Gently rub the foundation to cover your face. Gently patting works as well especially on the areas where concealer has been used. You may apply another layer after letting the foundation dry a few minutes. Always finish applying liquid or cream foundation in a downward motion so your facial hairs are smoothed down.
3. Look carefully at the areas where you applied concealer. If you have rubbed it away, gently apply a little more concealer.
4. A nice finishing touch is a little loose translucent powder applied over face with a cotton ball. If your skin is very dry you may wish to omit this step as powders tend to be drying.
