Eye Shadow

Your eyes are the most expressive feature on your face. When eye shadow is applied it enhances the eye area and instantly transforms them into bouquets of color.

A few simple steps in applying your eye shadow will brighten up your eye area and change your face dramatically.

First, you will need a light or pale color to use first. This will be a highlighter color and very basic. Apply the brush on the eye color and begin by placing the brush on the eye lid area and gently cover the entire lid with this color and blend it up all the way up underneath the eye brow area. By doing this, the basic color will make the eye look more open and will keep the other colors on all day.

Second, take a medium color, one that is more of an earth tone color so you can keep a natural look for day time. Apply the brush on the color and then gently begin in the crease of the eye area closest to the nose area and continue to apply the color all of the way in the crease to the outer part of the eye area. Be sure and blend once the color is applied. This prevents any colors from looking drawn on and not natural looking.

Third, take a darker color, usually a color that would match any clothing you are wearing. Apply your brush to the color and this time you will want to keep the color on the outer third of the eye area only. The darker color is designed to add lift to the eye area. Especially if you are not feeling well, this color can open an eye more and give it an optical illusion of raising the eye up. For proper application, simply take the color and apply it in a sideways V form at the outer corner of the eye area. It will look like you've put a smudge of color there and then you just blend with your brush. You can also take that same color and use it as a liner underneath your eye area to connect the top and bottom of the eye together.

Once all three colors are applied, blend again with your brush. Remember, you just want to enhance the eye area with color because it can bring out all of your best features on your facial area.

Eye liner can make your lashes look much fuller and can be used on the upper and lower lid. It comes in easy to use pencils and powders. Use dark brown or black for best results.

Using an Eye Liner Pencil

Start at the outside area of your upper lash line. Make short strokes toward the inner eye area. Repeat for the lower lid being careful not to get on the ledge of the lid. Gently soften the look with a soft applicator, Q-tip or brush.
